ORFS (O-Ring Face Seal)

ORFS (O-Ring Face Seal), defined under SAE J1453, is a connection standard that uses a captive O-ring seated in a groove on the flat face of the fitting. When the two halves are tightened together, the O-ring is compressed against the mating flat face, producing an extremely reliable, leak-free metal-to-metal seal.

Because the seal is created by the O-ring rather than by thread engagement, ORFS fittings excel in high-pressure and high-vibration environments where leak prevention is critical. They are widely used in construction machinery, agricultural equipment, material handling, and industrial hydraulic systems, and are favored for their consistent torque requirements and resistance to over-tightening damage.
